According to the report from Wall Street Journal, Google is purchasing Titan Aerospace, makers of high altitude, solar-powered drone aircraft. Google is working on some projects that are still in the early stages, so it is said that Google is going to use this aerospace technology for its development projects but also possibly used for Maps and other consumer facing products.

Regarding this acquisition Google said "The Titan team will work closely with Google’s Project Loon, which is building large, high-altitude balloons that send Internet signals to areas of the world that are currently not online."

Another project for which Google may use this technology is the project Makani, which is an airborne wind turbine that it hopes will generate energy more efficiently. Drones developed by Titan are very capable of collecting real-time, high-resolution images of the earth, they are also capable of carrying other atmospheric sensors and support voice and data services.

That type of technology could also help other Google businesses, including its Maps division, Titan says. There were no financial details disclosed, but Google provided the following statement to the WSJ:

“It’s still early days, but atmospheric satellites could help bring internet access to millions of people, and help solve other problems, including disaster relief and environmental damage like deforestation,” a Google spokesman said in a statement.

The new LG G Watch will be compatible with a wide range of Android smartphones and will present relevant information by just saying “OK Google” to ask questions or get stuff done.

"The opportunity to work with Google on LG G Watch was the perfect chance for LG to really pull out all stops in both design and engineering," said Dr Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company."

Amazon's long-rumoured hardware solution for the living room, the video game streaming device will have a dongle design like the Chromecast from Google, according to TechCrunch, rather than a box design like the Apple TV.

According to a publication that claims "the Amazon game console/streaming stick will have the ability to stream full PC game titles, rather than just Android games like other cheap living room consoles, such as the Ouya."

It is said that Amazon won't run the game titles directly from the dongle - that would take too much power - instead they'll be streamed over the web through a service akin to OnLive. Amazon has remained quiet about its plans for this device, so the details still remain unconfirmed. It is presumed that the game console/streaming dongle will be mobile connected and have the ability to stream Amazon movie, television, and music content.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that Amazon is hoping to offer a music streaming service as part of Amazon Prime for the the living room dongle. According to GigaOm the streaming stick will be pre-loaded with Netflix and Hulu Plus (in the US), as well as Prime Instant Video.

The dongle is under testing, therefore no release date has been shared for the dongle, but it's believed to be released sometime in 2014. Amazon is definitely going to get tough competition from other companies such as Google and Roku.

Motorola becomes an early partner for Google’s new Android Wear smartwatch SDK by introducing the Moto 360 smartwatch, and that’s not surprising since the company was Google owned until Lenovo began the procedure of buying it in January.

The Moto 360

The new Moto 360 is available in two designs, one is round face and square is the another one, and features the “Ok Google” voice control highlighted by Google for its new spin-off mobile OS.

The hardware features “subtle alerts and notifications,” and Motorola might launch the device this summer, beginning in the U.S. first. The company is selling it as a premium, fashion-first advice that uses high-end materials in its construction.

The another product launched based on Android Wear is the LG G smartwatch, and it'll be interesting to have a look at a couple of different approaches to how Android Wear OEM partners might differentiate themselves.

The difference between the LG’s G Watch and the Moto 360 can be seen clearly, the LG's G looks focused on being essentially a straightforward notification window, with emphasis on utility, but the Moto 360 seems like it’s designed more with the fashion-savvy crowd in mind.

iOS 7.1 update has been released by Apple, including UI tweaks, reboot fix and the new CarPlay feature. iOS 7 was having some errors and bugs which Apple has now tried to fix in the 7.1 update.
In the new update there several tweaks to the iOS user interface, alongside the usual bug fixes and some feature additions.

Regarding the UI change Apple said "iOS 7.1 switches to rounded UI elements in both of these areas, and the incoming call interface now includes separate decline and accept buttons below floating circular icons for the Remind Me and Message option.

The best visual tweak in iOS 7.1 is a change to the Notification Center, which appears to allow you to clear notifications more accurately. In some devices like the iPhone 5C, iPad Mini with Retina Display and the iPad Air there was a bug of random reboots which hopefully you won't see anymore in the 7.1 update.

Apple tried to fix the issues that have existed since the launch of iOS 7, causing some devices running the latest OS to randomly reset for no apparent reason.

iOS 7.1 also includes support for Apple’s new CarPlay feature, previously known as iOS in the Car. CarPlay is a feature that uses the Siri voice commands and prompts, providing an "eyes-free" experience where you can respond to incoming calls, dictate text messages, or access your music library from a vehicle.

Some big Automakers like Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo will support CarPlay in some of their new cars. Other companies including Ford and BMW, are promising to integrate CarPlay with their future in-car entertainment systems.
